"Changing Lanes" is a brilliant, brilliant movie. It would be hard to fail with this cast of great actors, but the subtle, intuitive, and intelligent direction takes everyone to a new level. It shows a deft understanding of addiction, relationships, ethics, and the human condition that is instructive without being preachy. The worst part of watching this movie is seeing the realistic horror of two lives intertwined in a severely destructive struggle. It's the kind of movie that makes you grateful for your own life, no matter how bad things are. We could easily be left in despair by the end, but thankfully, a few rays of redemption shine though. Changing Lanes is well worth a watch for excellent writing, great acting, skillful direction, and its depiction of truth.
