Update: After about a year of owning this, I can say that my kids have enjoyed this a lot more than I would have thought. Also, one of the rods snapped and another one was bent. I emailed customer service and they sent me new rods free of charge. Always happy to see a company stand by their products.The first thing to note about this Foosball/Air Hockey table is that it is small, cheap and flimsy. I knew it would be small given the listed dimensions, but I hoped that it would be a little better built. In terms of the build quality, here are the issues that I find with it:1. The metal rods are very thin. When I was screwing on the players, they were bending. Time will tell if this is an issue with actual usage.2. The players are a very cheap and lightweight plastic. They’re not the solid feeling players you typically see on a full sized table.3. Because this doesn’t come with legs, it slides around quite a bit when just set on a table (especially smoother tables). It would have been nice if they put some non-skid padding on the edges that come in contact with the table.Now, onto the assembly. I have to say that assembling this thing took way longer than it should have and the instructions are very lacking. The biggest thing to know is how to install the metal rods and the people.First, the metal rods are directional, which the instructions don’t mention. Only one end of the metal rod has a hole to attach the plastic handles. Because of this, you have to really plan out how you install the people and on which side you have the handles. I made the mistake of not paying close enough attention to this and ended up installing, uninstalling, installing, uninstalling, and installing a third time (more on why that’s such a pain later…). For me, I like to have the goalies played with the left hand and the “strikers” with the right hand. You’ll have to plan that out and make sure the orientation of the rod is correct, or you’ll have to take everything apart like me to get it right. The instructions won’t tell you how to do this by the way…Second, screwing on the people is a real pain. It helps to either have someone start the screw for you while you hold the person and align the hole in the person with the hole in the metal rod. Or alternatively, make sure you have a screwdriver with a magnetic bit at the end that will hold the screw onto it. Otherwise, expect this to take you at least 30 minutes just trying to screw the people onto the rod.Third, don’t even bother with trying to install it as having a single goalie like on full size tables. The length of the rods will prevent you from being able to move a single goalie all the way from edge to edge, so any balls that get stuck there can’t be reached by the goalie.With all of that said, my kids (all 8 and under) seem to really enjoy this which is why I ordered this item. If you don’t have room for a full size table and are just looking for something to introduce kids to foosball (and air hockey), this table will be fine for that. As an adult, I don’t find it very fun to play on such a little table (but this might be due to having owned a full sized table in the past). The “air” hockey is what you would expect for a table top that doesn’t actually have air to reduce the friction of the puck. It’s enjoyable for kids but I couldn’t see adults finding it very fun. All in all, if the price were 1/3 of what it was listed at, I’d say it’s an okay buy. But at it’s list price, given the build quality and “fun factor for all ages”, I’d probably have to really think about it.
