I was pleasantly surprised with the story from start to finish. This book was not my usual genre but gave it a chance because of the love I have for dogs. Believe it or not the story doesn't just stay with the boy and his dog but brings you into the lives of his friends and their journey through the summer together for what could be the last time. I could relate to a lot of what was happening to Billy at this age and brought me back to certain parts. I enjoyed the the ride and even had me choked up at certain times. I've read other books by Steven and it seems he has the ability to pull at your heart strings with mixed emotions all the while re-learning some of life's lessons. I'm hoping to find out what happens in Billy's future!! Love it!!
